I’m writing this on the train to Manchester, where I will be downing a few plateloads of pasta, trying to get a decent sleep, then waking up to the prospect of a bike ride to Birmingham to help raise funds for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Pedal for Petrov campaign.
As I do so, I am reflecting rather sadly that I have probably – unless Rio screw up and London gets asked late on to do 2016 as well – seen my last day of live Olympic and Paralympic action on home soil. Once in a lifetime indeed. And without doubt one of the best things to happen in Britain in our lifetime too.
I was lucky enough to see loads of Olympic athletics, including Usain Bolt’s wins and the even better performance of Kenya’s David Rudisha, loads of cycling, including Chris Hoy’s final race, and loads of Paralympics sport too, which I enjoyed just as much if not more than the Olympics.
Britain is bound to suffer something of a hangover, and a feeling of let down. I am missing it already, because tonight I am travelling and tomorrow I will be doing the bike ride and then a fundraising dinner at Villa Park, home of leukaemia victim Stiliyan Petrov’s club. So all we have are the memories. But we also have the opportunity to use the success of the Games to build a lasting legacy through sport, regeneration, and through trying to hang on to the spirit of positivity that has been palpable going around London and the rest of the UK.
David Cameron let us down in failing to raise sport up the ministerial ladder in his frankly bizarre reshuffle. But there is still plenty of time, plenty of energy, plenty of commitment of many people in and out of government, to make sure we do not go the way of Sydney, Athens and Beijing, where there are mixed but often negative views of the lasting impact of the Games.
We can certainly make the case that the Olympics were the best ever, though others may disagree. But there can be no disagreement whatever with the statement that the Paralympics were the best ever.
Of course the infrastructure, the organisation and the quality of the sport in both Games have been a huge part of that. But so have the Games Maker volunteers and ambassadors, who have been integral to this new mood in the air. They will find it as hard as anyone to come back to earth. The athletes go back to their countries, and carry on with their sport. The politicians will move on to the party conferences. The sponsors will get on with their businesses, the spectators will get on with their lives. But this will have been such an amazing experience for so many volunteers and I reckon a lot of them will find life a bit hard for a while.
At least they have had due recognition, from public and athletes alike. Indeed it is the athletes who have led the way in calling on all the volunteers and ambassadors to wear their uniforms for just one more day – Parade Day, Monday – not least so that the rest of us can just go up to them wherever we see them, and say two very simple words – Thank You.
— Finally, I am one half of the Observer debate tomorrow. The other half is Danny Kelly, who is defending the booing of George Osborne. Despite my dislike of Osborne’s policies and politics, I am not.
All the best to everyone involved in the last two days of the greatest show on earth. And to anyone who wants to reward those of us riding from Manchester to Birmingham tomorrow, visit http://www.leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk and go to Pedal for Petrov, or donate by texting Stan91 plus the amount to 70070. We start from Albert Sq around 8am and Ryan Giggs having been out in support today, tomorrow the blue side of Manchester is on parade in the form of Mike Summerbee and Paul Lake
When I had my day out watching the Men’s Marathon last month, I made it my object to thank every Gamesmaker I saw. I didn’t quite manage, but I thanked an awful lot of them. And my friend, Sandy, who was one. And my friend, Alison, who was a track judge, having worked so hard since we were at University together back in the mists of time to work her way up the levels to be qualified to judge internationally.
And welcome to our lovely city tomorrow, of course!
The booing of George, no doubt about it, is all due to his treasury directed benefits cuts, and what with the closing down of the Remploy factories, also. I would have joined in Alastair, and had a good ol’ boo, oh yes.
Sport does have after affects, and I don’t just mean if your footie side has lost on any given Saturday. Harlod Wilson, it is said, lost the 1970 GE on the back of England being knocked out by “the germans” a few days previous. A gamble it is said Harold took, hoping England would have got into the semis, and used the feel good factor of the lower footie classes. But it backfired.
And Kiwis and us Welsh are well known to be on a big downer when national rugger sides have lost – the Kiwis after the ’71 Lions, and their various world cup final fails, sent them into some sort of national depression. As for Wales, “doctors papers” are usual obtained for Monday’s off after, win or lose – there is no middle ground there.
AC, I wish you and all the other participants well with the bike ride tomorrow. It’s certainly for a good cause.
I see two scots blokes turned up to see Andy Murray at his press conference yesterday, and surpise surprise, a little pished. And one of them is your mate, Alastair. What a couple of drunken old soaks!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2200481/Great-Scots-Sir-Sean-Connery-Manchester-United-boss-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-interrupt-press-conference-congratulate-Andy-Murray–sauce.html
If I have confused anyone with “doctor’s papers”, it is an euphmism for taking a sickie, in certain parts of the world, as here,
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3022/2908540882_108e82db7f_o.jpg
From Max Boyce’s album, the only comedy album that got to number one in the album charts, and he is still minting it from royalties still, after almost forty years. There’s stamina, ey?
Your pic with Mike Summerbee, as here,
http://pbs.twimg.com/media/A2VOctRCcAA-Aur.jpg:large
Remember him very well from the days of David Coleman’s MOTD, as here, but with Manc C.,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFtogydYpW8
Seen some clips of him when he was in the great Swindon Town side of the early sixties, Don Rogers etc.. There is a clip I saw of a documentary they did with the beeb or someone on Swindon, on how it was to be a footie pro, after the wage cap. Will see if I can find it.
furthermore on Mike Summerbee and Swindon, the documentary was called “Six Days to Saturday”, made in 1963, as here,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wiltshire/content/articles/2008/05/12/six_days_to_saturday_stfc_film_1963_feature.shtml
Couldn’t find any clips of it. It has been shown by Beeb4 a couple of times in the last ten years or so. Maybe they will do again sometime.
Alternative view.
2012 Olympic ceremonies were watched by a billion people on TV. Messages, symbols and agenda of the elite were part of the show.
Was England´s history celebrated, or were we witnessing occult symbolism?
Well, both.
There were a lot of symbolic moments reflecting the agenda of elite sponsoring the Games.
Focal point of the opening ceremony was a hill with magical properties: Glastonbury Tor.
It is thought to be Avalon of King Arthur.
Tor was topped by an oak tree considered sacred representing the Supreme Deity.
Then William Blake´s hymn New Jerusalem was sang. Blake was inspired by Druidism, Gnosticism and Freemasonry.
His Grand Geometrician is at the Rockefeller Center in NY.
“New Jerusalem” refers to the story of Jesus visiting Glastonbury.
According to the Arthur legend the top of Tor provided an entrance to Underworld.
Pandemonium is the capital of Hell in Milton´s Paradise Lost.
Industrial revolution push in the 18th century had links to secret societies like Grand Orient Freemasons and Bavarian Illuminati – men in top hats!
Tribute to the NHS began with the theme from the film Exorcist.
Then we heard a quote from Peter Pan.
Monarch mind control programme uses Peter Pan Programming. Wizard of Oz and Alice of Wonderland are also being used.
Closing ceremony was about the future.
Nations were together with athletes mixing.
Performers used blocks to build (Illuminati) pyramid at the stage.
We heard John Lennon´s Imagine with the words “imagine there´s no countries…and world will be as one”.
This is the global socialist system the elite wants with its New World Order.
Then a phoenix, symbolic creature of alchemical transmutation, appeared to represent the rebirth of the entire world = NWO.
Take That performed Rule The World.
Ps. Osborne should not be booed – he should be sacked! I am not anti-politics, I am against politicians who have sold their souls to globalist bankers. Ron Atkinson was once asked that there was a lot of booing in the game his team was not doing well. Yes, was his answer, and I started it…
It is “Petrov19” not Petrov91
I’d imagine some of the booing was for a laugh but most would have been from the gut and honestly meant.
The sheer hypocrisy of someone that has been the driver of cutting benefits for the disabled (as if they’re part of the undeserving able), been a lead part of the team using coercion and fear on large chunks of the population, retaining a disreputable organisation to assess people’s wellness for work (which happens to have quite a track record in Europe of suicides resulting) is staggering.
What on earth was he thinking of in accepting the invite?
I also don’t want to keep hearing Dave mention Ivan as the proof that he understands what living with a disability is like.
Did Osbo really think anyone allows any credit for the staggering success of the games to him or others of the coalescence? Have he or Dave uttered a word about to whom credit is really due?
The main stadium had been almost finished by mid ’08, would Zaha Hadid have been available to design the pool if she’d not been commissioned years ago (just as she was for the Hackney school).
Would the three OC/CC creative directors have been available?
Most contracts must have been signed-off eons (oh alright, that’s a slight exaggeration) before May ’10, that’s the only reason such well-qualified and creative people were retained and allowed to show what we can source and deliver.
Let’s remember that when orders and contracts do appear as the results of this showcase.
PS: I hope Tessa Jowell gets a good gong for all this btw, she’s always wonderfully calm, fair and focused and had some severe personal distraction early on.
‘ere ‘ere
Did it occur to you that many of those booing were disabled or connected with someone disabled? Their lives have been made much worse by the Tories. They were probably booing Atos as well. I would have booed James Purnell if I had ever had the opportunity.
Well done Alastair and all, you all made it,
http://pbs.twimg.com/media/A2Xn7TxCAAA3QBq.jpg:large
And it looks like you made it before the rain – it is peeing down here at the moment, and it is creeping up towards Birmingham, it looks like.
Boo-ing is a legitimate, democratic and collective way of expressing opinions and feelings. Patrician, ‘Fear of the ‘mob” might try to convince you otherwise.
“Nurse! Nurse! Olli is out of bed again!”
What universe are you in today?
What a work of fantasy.
Too too much conspiracy, just sit back enjoy without all the mythological interpretation.
Most politicians peddle their version of ‘The Truth’ which we all know is pure unadulterated fiction manufactured to suit their own purposes.
We need more than a GE, we need a complete change in the way our system works and real choice given to the electorate.
Booing has for long been a way of the public showing their disapproval of Labour politicians and their lickspttles as well!

The thing is Richard, whilst we ordinary mortals do not believe in the sort of things that Olli and many others elsewhere have drawn attention to. They, i.e. the powers that be, at the highest level, most certainly do! At the highest level they are satanists and many are also peadophiles. I thought it was a ‘sick joke’ too, until I checked it out very thoroughly and was shocked to the core. They, the PTB rely on the fact that most ordinary grounded people would never believe such things. That’s how they have been getting away with such evil for so many years. Check it out for yourself Richard. May I suggest you begin with Googling the now late ex-PM from the 1970’s before Maggie and I don’t mean ‘gentleman Jim’. This one was a confirmed batchelor. One day the truth will come out, it always does eventually. But you know as well as I do that most incriminating stuff is locked-up for 30,50 or even a hundred years or so. Long after many events the truth comes out when those that were involved are long gone. Like the scandals in the past in children’s homes for example. The longer us ordinary normal people look the other way, the longer they will get away with gross wrong doing. People are conditioned through the MSM never to enquire into news and information that doesn’t come from anywhere but the MSM. Anyone who says any different from the MSM line is immediately labelled a conspiracy theorist or nutter. The masses are encouraged to go along with the ridiculing of anyone who ‘steps out of line’ and the masses, who like to be part of the herd or flock, just go along with it.
Ok can anyone give me an English lesson:
“But there can be no disagreement whatever with the statement that the Paralympics were the best ever.”
I would always have used “whatsoever” rather than “whatever” in the sentence above. But in similar sentences, numerous times I have now noticed the likes of David Starkey, Boris Johnson and Alastair use “whatever”. I am in no doubt that they all have a better command of English than I do so they are right, my question is what are the rules for when it is “whatever” and when it is “whatsoever”? At present I have no grasp of this whatever/whatsoever…
Excellent thoughts Olli. It is quite amazing that Victorian nineteenth century new civility (to a degree) was only recovering the position from 450AD, in Romano-Britain, 1400 years before, before the Romans retreated down all Roads to Rome, due to Germanic barbarian tribes from the otherside of the Rhine. The intervening period was ongoing chaos.
And interesting thoughts especially on some NWO, you’re-not-on-the-list so-you-can’t-come-in, that trans-global freedom fighters are scared witless of. There seems to be a lot of truth in that.
And I think Richard and Libdem need to take some “imagination” pills, and not to “sit back” and “take that”.
Ehtch, have you noticed how those barbaric German tribes are still doing the same things to the rest of the EU? Funny how things never change init?
“Whatever…………” exasperated sigh lol!
Yes Gilliebc, certain people strive for power, so to have the ability with power and influence to conceal their personal pervertedness.
Adolf was a mild case in history, you could say, since we all know about him, since “we” won the war, it was all exposed. But what is locked up in our own back garden, away from our “free” eyes, you should all ask, especially you Richard.
…and furthermore, may I mention a present day vestige of Roman times? Switzerland – a right strange place. Why do us in the west of Europe fall at their feet? What is that all about?
Loverly place, and people, generally, and that, but still, it is an unexplained answer of a place.
Take 1946 for instance, an excellent vid of the Swiss airforce, brit supplied aircraft, when they were running shit scared that commie Stalin’s Russia might travel down to visit them,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRqLuUBUIZs
Yes, they suddenly decided then they better have a real decent airforce, all of a sudden. The wheelbarrow borrowed from a local nearby garden, no doubt, being blown away behind the aircraft when it is started up always makes me giggle in that clip.
Richard, you are a Thatcher rentboy.
A vid reply to you,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR1VePIeWbE
So why did they want to do that? Did they really wind them up so much that they would go to so extremes? That was Thatcher’s Britain for you.
And another, on the common man on our main isle,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK3eP9rh4So
And the classic, this lady is not for turning, I won’t allow Dennis to enter my back bottom, oh no, I am a front bottom lady,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ-M0KEFm9I
Any good Richard?
Glad to see Dawson, that englishman, has finally grown up, to a certain extent,

Am still umming and arring whether to return to Oz to see it next summer. Was there in 2001, Brisbane, first test – yes, I was there, and will book in at that hotel up in Spring Hills above Brisbane town centre again, on Wickham Terrace, so if any floods, I will be alright. This is the hotel I stayed in,
http://astor.bestwestern.com.au/
And the old fella and old lady that ran it then didn’t mind me bringing various ozzie blonde ladies back past the nightporter and for breakfast, and the nightporter helped me out on chewing gum/durex…
That five foot nine blonde lady was the best, from a farm in the Qz Queensland outback she was, and her wearing sunglasses at brecky at nine o’clock, after about half an’ hour sleep, really made me laugh. She was a character, and my gawd, typical oz beauty face and fit bod too, oh yes, everywhere. Nice teeth too.
In the case of David Starkey, he that bemoans unruly children yet, despite being old enough to understand ‘PKB’ still monopolises and bombasts on every single programme in which he appears, I’d suggest that his incentive is even just one extra syllable of the sound of his own voice.
I’m not sure he’ll be invited on to Any Qs again unless David Dimbleby cracks up.
I prefer ‘whatever’; ‘whatsoever’ sounds too prim and Marjorie-like (especially when pronynced what-sewwwww-evah’ – although I’m sure DS could provide a better-spelled example of the phonetics I’m on abart).
Don’t pick me up on ‘spelled’ i/o ‘spelt’ (barf) btw
Bring out your dead, fgs bring out your dead
Us old celts are trying hard to re-educate them, but it is difficult hard job, Libdem. Give us time.
Lots of opining there about masses, herds and flocks Gbc.
How cool it must be to consider oneself so much better-informed than one feels they are :-s < great emoticon
Ooops, need to clarify things there / or / depending on your layout.
I’d have thought Starkey uses ‘whatsoever’, hadn’t clocked that you claim he misses out ‘so’.
Also, my use of ‘DS’ refers to ‘our’ DS, not Starkey.
I should have expected this from a lib dem… Can’t choose between left and right, how could you choose between two words lol! Let me guess the vince cable wing thinks it’s whatsoever, the David laws wing says “whatever” 🙂
Yes indeed Ehtch. Some of it is so bad and grotesque it is almost unbelievable. Tbh, I don’t go too far into that aspect of things. It’s too much for someone as ‘genteel’ as me! I’m only half-joking there btw. But generally speaking woman are more sensitive to that sort of wickedness, on account of us being more nurturing. But I know that certainly doesn’t apply to all women. Far from it in fact.
Foreign newspapers used to be able to print stuff about well known people in the UK many years ago. I’m not sure that is the case any longer though with over 90% (I think it’s actually 96%) of the mass/MSM being in the ownership and control of the same relatively small group of ‘elite people’ This same small group also own and control the majority of the big global banks. I don’t think a person even needs to be a so-called conspiracy theorist to recognize that that is at least somewhat suspicious! People are catching-on though. These money-grabbing, power crazy elite should be getting a little nervous by now. When enough people catch-on to their little game, it will be over for them. We are many, they are few.
GOOD GAWD! Just heard and seen a flock of wild geese flying south as we speak! It is normally well into October when they do that.
They are a weather vane, so, sorry to say, temperatures are going to soon drop in the next couple of weeks. I did tell you all weeks ago to get snow tyres or tyre chains for your chariots after all. It is going to be a seriously cold autumn and winter.
Geese,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXL5M30A_sg
A farming fella on a small farm opposite my maternal grandparents used to keep a large flock of geese, cut their flying feathers to keep them on the ground, Edward, born with natural scoliosis, leaned well to the side when he walked, barely five foot two tall. There was open ground behind his farm on a footpath, where for twenty yards when we were young, we had to outrun those hissing and nipping geese. Some of us made it, but some fell, to the geese!
And oh yes Islingtons, wotsername big breasted Nigel Lawson’s daughter, goose meat is good too, you tory fuckhead knobs! Happy Xmas, twats!
Woof woof, wrong tree Libdem. Incidentally Libdem are you male or female? Feel free to ignore that simple question if you prefer 😉
Final thought/suggestion. Are you going to change your user name before it becomes even more embarrassing for you than it already is. No offence intended btw. We share the same views on the EU, I believe. As in the UK shouldn’t be in it.
Suppose I should post a vid of my days in the “Brit” air force, generally known as the RAF, in the 1980’s, on noticing what the swiss were getting up to, in military exercises, in two parts,
pt1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6witfHfu0FM
pt2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka2wT9KpFCI
Ja/Qui, fun and games. By the way, need to know, many were pilots that were from the French air force, mirages and all that, not at all Swiss, so neine sprechan.
Ach! Let it go will you…
British designed Hawker Hunters the above are, by the way. Will post a sharp end RAF vid of them just after they appeared in history.
Here it is, RAF original Hawker Hunters, the Black Arrows, from the ahem!, late 1950’s,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=862XrJAl3pQ
Good music too, as always…
My dad did his national service on them, went to Sweden and Russia and Germany in the fifties, making sure their comms onboard worked.
oh dear age has turned you a bitter man if you dont think people can freely express themselves anymore .are you not being a bit of a kipper on osborne being booed .just remember your roots now and then.or has your lifestyle turned you .
Murray two sets up, but 2-1 down in the third. We could be in for the long haul.
Dad is not interested, since it is not about himself, so what is new, the twat.
Well done Andy, tidy.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2201250/From-Olympic-gold-Grand-Slam-Andy-Murray-lays-ghost-Fred-Perry-rest-male-Brit-86-years-win-Grand-Slam.html
And don’t say I don’t do anything for you, Daily Wail. Nice photos.
S’pose I should say that I remember her name, that five foot nine ozzie blonde lady, it was Marnie, and when she told me, I laughed. And she asked me why did I laugh, and I said it reminds me of that Hitchcock film with Sean Connery about a psychotic lady. She liked that – ozzie girls are like that, have a good sense of humour. After that, I WAS IN!
Clip of said film,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV_2-v_dsAU
The Hitch is always top drawer for the dark shadows of life, brilliant fella he was.
So, you want me to ‘come out’ Gilliebc, I’m just wondering what on earth difference it can make in these times of equality lol!
I think we should be out of the EU, as I’ve said on a number of occasions. Our politicians use it as an excuse for them not doing their jobs properly. There is too much unaccountability as it is, the EU just exacerbates the situation. I don’t mind some sort of trade agreement with them as with the rest of the world. I do mind the way in which we have abrogated responsibility and always blame the EU.
Name change coming up……
I’m a zigzagger….that makes perfect sense to me….ok, ok just round the middle line!
bugger it maeete, might as well post some Oz comedy for the sheilas there, and to let them know I am on my way, Kath and Kim, from state Victoria, and what a state they are, maeete,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhMKARRmuLI
Still think Qz girls bang better, like a backdoor they are, tidy Sheilas, oh yes indeedy.
…edit, the quality of that vid was well ropey maeete, this is better, much better,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeqNEFJ9RiU
Kath and Kim, mother and daughter from, umm, well, hell really, Bruce, frankly.
Do indulge yourself with stuff about AC playing with the bankers today, you know you really really and so simply have to xxx
Rather depressing view from cross party peer Baroness Deech just now on Daily Politics, when asked if we could keep on doing things with this Olympic spirit she said “No. The day after the olympics ended, we had strikes announced up and down the country, and the teachers refused to supervise extra curricular sports.”
I know what you mean about the “what-sewwwww-evah” but I now have the opposite feeling, because I only ever hear “whatever” used in this example by people who are much posher than me ie Boris Johnson, David Starkey, and yes Alastair too, it is it that now carries negative connotations in my brain! However I still suspect it is correct, as them being posher and better educated than me should mean their english is better. I dropped it at 16 and had never seen the point of it even then (I do now.) My thought was “People can understand me already, I know how to read – teach me real stuff like science and maths, not frivolous stuff like English”.
Yep, if you see him on question time he uses it quite a lot.
That’s a great link you posted Ehtch! Humankind still have so much to learn from nature. The geese and other forms of wildlife are indeed, as you so rightly say a ‘weather vane’ Both of my (late) parents were very keen observers of nature and the natural rhythm of life. My dear ol’ dad tried his best to ‘educate’ me in that way of things, but although I did my best at the time to appear interested, I have to admit I wasn’t overly interested when a little girl. It wasn’t until I was well into adulthood that I finally became more interested in nature and wildlife.
There has been several incidents of late of whales and dolphins ‘beaching’ themselves. I wonder what that’s all about? Any thoughts on that Ehtch, as in what do they know, that we are as yet unaware of?
Etymology online records ‘whatever’ as being in use for more than two centuries longer than ‘whatsoever’, the latter being deemed simply ‘more emphatic’ in which case some Middle Ages Marjorie must have been ranting on and on and on and on and on and on …… ooops over the edge.
The ‘so’ is so unnecessary imhoo.
I was referring to his obnoxious ranting the last time I heard him on it. Who knows, perhaps it was an attempt at humour or (as our ‘cousins’ would say) iyony GRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Waddevva, he went on and on and on and on about unruly pupils that will not shut up and listen.
In fact I see oooop there that I’ve committed the cardinal sin of referring to DD when I mean Jonathan …… who sounded as if he wanted a bucket of sawdust to stick DS’s head in to …. 😀
Beached whales and dolphins? Well, we don’t really hear on autopsy why, maybe because of something hush-hush. But the finger is mainly pointed to military high power sonar systems, and not only from submarines, but also from the ones they dip into the sea from ships and helicopters, and also the ones they throw out of surveillance aircraft. It is said it makes these sealife sonarily deaf, and unable to navigate.
Well, that is the conspiracy theory. But could be just a biological infection though.
Mostly garbage, great Atkinson quote though.
So Libdem/Liberalreform(!), we shall conclude you are of an indeterminate sex? Nothing wrong with that at all Libdem/Liberalreform, may I say.
And I am a bloke, mostly, by the way, who is not scared of the kitchen.
: )
Pwll-yr-Odyn the farm was called – get your tongue and gums around that. Edward was from originally the marcher borders, Hereford/Worcester border. Couldn’t speak a word of welsh, and had that farming burr to his voice from there, slightly oo-arhh. Wonder if that accent still exists these days there.
Pwll-yr-Odyn translates to the english as the kiln/oven next to the pool, could be a lime kiln or a community bread/beer barley malt bakery oven from olde times.
Hope you spotted yourself at 3:00 in that vid Alastair, this one above,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/19539132
Don’t worry Alastair, it was a “difficult” tour, and I don’t blame you. Myself, still, think Sir Clive is a bit of a plank, honestly. Southampton? Remember that performance by Sir Clive? What a knob he is, even if he went to a fee paying naval school in Anglesey, Wales.
No , Ehtch, having read the abuse dished upon Osborne ( for whom I am no apologist) being booed at the Games, as so many salivated on this and other sites, I was purely pointing out the discomfort of other Labourites at the hande of people booing.
Your, often foul. foul mouthed contributions, and reference to me as a rent boy render you beneath contempt.
Thanks for that… seems we have a winner, and its “whatever”. Can I just say that the rest of the board were of no use to me whatsoever… oh dammit!
Ehtch, you can conclude whatsoever you like, that’s in deference to reaguns lol
Oh come on Richard, don’t be like that, I was only having a bit of fun.
When I mentioned “rentboy”, I meant it as a mouthpiece for the torys, that is all, simile-like.
And yes, I have a bottom-mouth that soap can’t wash, but that is me, just being honest.
Hope this clears this up, and I apologise for my bluntness, but we all reflect life, one way or the other, don’t we?
Peace Richard, and all that bollox. : )
S’pose I should say I was offered Red Arrows technician post after RAF Cosford, maybe I should have taken it, but my gut feeling at that time I needed elsewhere.
.
Which came true, when I left the RAF, worked in a research and development lab in Surrey with engineers with brains the size of a planet on the new search and rescue system for new build Westland Seaking helicopters mid-nineties that are working well as we speak. Just ask Prince Wills if you don’t believe me.
.
The best function on the digital side of it, away from the automatic flight control system analogue side, is the Search selection, when the helicopter flies a search pattern on its own, so all mark one pilot eyes are on the sea, as well as forward looking infra-red screens, if it is night, for bodies in the water. Sea-state filter too, which makes the Seaking go up and down with the sea swell, especially above a boat or ship or yacht, for a pick up, so the winchman doesn’t crash about so much.
Hope this is an education, on brit technology, in recent times.
I was the one to tell the engineers to get an emulator to do what that old 1980 Texas clunky computer to do the same, on a “modern” then 80386 Intel based computer, and they said “oh yes, why didn’t we think of that”, since it took about a minute to upload a new programme, rather than half an hour on that Texas kettle, that should have been put in the skip years ago.
Engineers, when they are that clever, can’t see their silicon chips from their transistors at times.
Bugger it, a vid,

Yes, kick the football for us, after we have left.
Final vid, Alastair, honest, what I think was the best brit aircraft from WWI, even though I think the french SPAD XIII was the best, an Ra Factory SE5a,

Any good? Smoke me a kipper – I’ll be back for breakfast, my man!
Strange gun though, it had two through the props in front of the pilot. Bizarre re-creation.
I was as sick as a parrot on Monday when I heard the Red Arrows had really done their thing.
I was thinking it was likely but was around the City and in Croydon with no chance of a sighting.
I saw a Harrier once at Biggin Hill Airshow (which doesn’t happen any more – weep) and it was so funny, the pilot had it bobbing up and down from around 3feet to 15feet for about 3mins, just feet from people on either side of the wings. Swooon 🙂
That is near where I used to work Michele, in New Addington, in the industrial estate at the back end of it, about four miles from Biggin Hill. The helicopters that were in testing with us used to come there, for us to have a look and do our own checks, away from the usual RAE (Royal Aircraft Establishment) bases we had to visit.
And sadly, the military search and rescue set-up is planned to be privatised in a few years. Don’t know how that will work, since these aircraft are used in military excercises, need to know type things and that. And the new Sea Kings built for SAR in the mid nineties look to being taken out of service at the same time, replaced by Merlins it is said. Madness decisions.
This is what we were doing then,
http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/sea-king-afcs-13332/
And see if I can find what I was on about, with military creeping privatisation.
Ha-ha, found, press release from a few weeks ago, to the aircraft industry, from the present government,
http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/bond-bristow-and-chc-shortlisted-for-uk-sar-contracts-375028/
Another “under the radar” announcement from them, you could say.
And the announcement of laying up the mid-nineties new SAR Sea Kings, who have plenty of life still in them,

There is a big flap on, non-geese, how our winters are going to be colder in the UK, as like the extremes of temperature that Canada experiences from winter to summer – who are on the same Earth latitude as us – due to the melting of the Arctic ocean, as reported here,
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/sep/14/arctic-sea-ice-harsh-winter-europe?intcmp=239
But I won’t have used the word “may”, I would have used the word “will”. It is all about Atlantic ocean warm sea currents being affected, which gives us our temperate winters, relatively. And also it’s knock on affects to altitude air currents, due to evaporation from warmer seas, which will be less as a result.
Does anyone realise Madrid in Spain is on the same Earth latitude as NYC? Madrid doesn’t get much snow, does it, at the moment…. A vid of cold NYC in the early 1970’s,

Yeh, honkey, spot the thick overcoats, not normally seen in downtown Madrid, at the moment.
Been mentioning it before, militarisation privately, as with above vid, when I could see some were non-military.
Thatis a deadly line to follow, ther needs to be a sharpe line drawn on the ground between military and civilian life, otherwise things can happen.
That is why we have this police uproar now, due th the Thatch militarising the police in the 80’s, effectively. A dark dark passage to go dowm. Look at East Germany and their Stasi from history, for instance. There should be a hard drawn line. The TA are alright, for instance, since they have their day jobs, and they know when to swop hats and heads on themselves, I have found, but when a non-military job is military, things can get strange and destabalising quite quickly.
Talking of hardcore, one of my favotite tracks from the early nineties, during the depths of toryism,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H9jQQVnU2g
Those lads that did that were from Lancashire or maybe Yorkshire, but the main bloke I think was from near Burnley, honest Alastair. Will search again if so.
edit – Manch/suburbs, and the crowd sounds in the track is from one of those “illegal” raves, in Blackburn, which ironically was raided by the cops/tory state militia puppets, that night.
Furthermore, the higher fuel bills in highly populated western Europe, if so happens, will be frightening, especially at the moment, in both ways with regards to finances and hydrocarbons from the ground getting less, due to less exploiting projects, and then the cycle spirals down more with more CO2.
But might be a good time to emigrate to Spain, if you are a central heating installer/plumber, though.
